London 2012 travel disruption PDF Print E-mail

The Olympic Games will create a huge amount of extra traffic on London’s roads and public transport systems, particularly in the City and central areas. TfL forecast significant disruption to people’s ability to get to and from their workplaces on different days and at different times. It is a potential problem for all employers and the general view is that this is an issue which needs to be planned for and managed.

Some of the issues may already be covered in your business continuity plans, but there is an element which may not be included – which is a potentially very large task of gathering data from every London employee on exactly which routes they use to get to and from work.  This needs to be compared with the London2012 designated ‘hotspots’ to identify who will be affected and how and when, and then what can be done to mitigate these effects.

Of course managers could investigate each individual employee’s travel patterns – one by one – but that would be desperately time consuming. So we propose using ADVISA to share the burden and speed up the process.

ADVISA provides a short online questionnaire to enable each employee to carry out their own self assessment online. They will enter into a database the routes, stations and bus-stops they use as well as their views about temporary home or flexi time working. Everyone's answers are consolidated in one database. Managers can then readily use their answers to decide on appropriate mitigating actions.

Do you have a colleague who may be co-ordinating such activity, and if so, could you introduce them to ADVISA please?  We could make this task so much easier for them.
